Hi, I’ve stayed at a few Novotel hotels (Bali, Thailand) and have always enjoyed the experience. This stay at Ha Long was no different, everything was excellent until I checked out. I was getting my kids in the car and a staff member ran after my wife and said to her very abruptly: “hey the laundry bag from your room was missing, you need to pay”. My wife was shocked as we have used the laundry bag from your other hotels and didn’t realise it was an item you charge for. She asked how much he said to her One Million Dong! My wife was shocked and repeated quite loudly “One Million Dong?!”, then he corrected himself and said 100,000 Dong. My wife said that’s very expensive and she’s rather give back the laundry bag back, so the staff waited while my wife opened our luggage in the lobby, poured our dirty clothes into our bag to return the used laundry bag. Is this something you do to all your guests who take the laundry bag?! And if you want to charge for it, I’d imagine a sign of some sort should be put up in the cupboards to advise your guests that this is a chargeable item.

fantastic - great few days wonderful staff beautiful and helpful and very accommodating staff. upgrade to a great room. Outside of the hotel needs some attention but do not judge this book by its cover - great inside. had a great Christmas here.

« Great hotel TERRIBLE bed »

Everything was fine except my bed was EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE (room 1123) and I barely slept all night. This ruined the following day's tour of Halong Bay as I was so exhausted and irritable. Apart from the bed, however, the room was lovely, staff were lovely, breakfast was excellent and it was a positive experience.

« Poor customer service soured the experience »

- the room was dirty, especially the balcony, to the point we couldn’t use the balcony. - poor ventilation in the bathroom/toilet - the ceiling shower was crooked and angled towards the wall - restaurant staff were rude, not attentive and forgot our order Overall was disappointed that the level of service and experience did not meet my expectations from the Novotel/Accors brand.

Hotel gave away our personal information to third party businesses without permission. Not happy. On the first night of our stay they also hosted a private party which was extremely loud until 2:00am. Overall get a vibe that this hotel isn’t about the guest.

We got a very good deal with half board from Accor Plus. The room is great with big bath room. Hotel food is also good. Staff is helpful and friendly. The hotel decoration is a bit out date but that doesn’t bother me. All in all it is a good hotel.
